The Wilkins Rate of Reading Test can measure the changes in reading ability that result from the use of coloured overlays, lenses and other treatments.

Test performance depends upon visual skills that may not be measured by conventional optometric or educational tests.

The test can be undertaken by children who report symptoms when reading. The test is reliable, quick and simple to administer. It can be administered repeatedly, for example with and without a coloured overlay.
